Job Description
The role will be involved in efforts to ensure research informatics data systems are successfully developed, implemented and integrated to advance research objectives.
Job responsibilities include:
Develop and implement scientific applications that automate research workflows and improve lab data management
Integrate existing systems
Build data parsers for lab instrument generated data
Install and configure scientific lab data systems such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
As part of a research organization, there will be lots of opportunities to work with and learn new computing technologies.
This is a technical role and will have a strong focus on systems & applications implementation, testing, automation, integration & configuration management.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems (MIS). Will also consider a degree in Engineering or a Physical sciences field (chemistry, physics, biology etc.) with 5 years industry experience.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years; experience hands on IT skills – systems analysis, requirements engineering, workflow/process mapping, and data flow mapping.
3+ years of experience with automation, configuration management and system integration.
2+ years’ experience in software development programming and working with databases (including writing Structured Query Language – SQL queries).
Solid project management and history of project delivery success.
Self-starter, proven ability to plan, prioritize and organize work in order to meet day-today, short term and long term goals with minimal direct supervision.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Team player – shares openly, collaborative, participates actively, desire to help others succeed.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. – based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee / Refugee).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server environment – installing, configuring, and setting up server side software (both vendor purchased & custom built software).
Experience with Microsoft C# or VB.NET and/or scripting, e.g. Powershell, web frameworks such as Durandal is preferred.
Experience in doing software development and/or DevOps for scientific/lab data systems such as LIMS, High Throughput informatics, Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), Scientific Data Management System (SDMS), Chemical Inventory and or data historians.
Experience with research workflow automation and scientific application integration.
Working in a complex/global research & scientific organization is preferred.
