Manager Legal
The Manager Legal position will be based in Chennai. This person will be responsible for handling all day to day legal operational requirements of the Company, which includes but not limited to providing support on Facilities, HR, Litigation, Procurement (Indirect India Contracts), Legal Research and IPR related matters.

Here is a glimpse of what you will do
Facility Related Matters includes but not limited to the below:
-Drafting, Reviewing and Negotiating new / renewal Lease Deeds for any of the facilities that the Company would be leasing (includes LOI, MOU’s, Agreement to Lease, Leave and License Agreement, etc)
-Drafting, Reviewing and Negotiating on the Service Apartments/ Guest Agreements for the Company.
-Conduct title verification for proposed property to be leased.
-Issuance of renewal notice, termination notice, Amendments, etc., relating to the Lease / Guest House Agreements.
-Coordinate with external Laws firms and internal stake holders in review of Agreements / contracts / any opinions to be obtained.
-Extend required support for registration of the Lease Deeds / Lease and License Agreement.
-Handle all statutory relating requirements/clarifications/ Queries pertaining to facilities.
Human Resources Matters:
-Issuance of notices / letters – Show cause notice, Absconding notices, termination letter to employees for any misconduct, fraud, retaliation or breach of any terms of employment, Undertaking/ Bonds, etc.
-Draft and respond to legal notices / letters received from ex-employees.
-Support HR on a day to day basis on their queries related to the legal requirements pertaining to Employment laws / various Labour Laws / statutory requirements.
-Monitor and comply with statutory requirements like labor, ESI, PF, Bonus, Contract Labour Regulations, etc.
-Drafting and / review of any Policies or guidelines to be developed for the Company
Litigation Support:
-Engage External Law Firms for handle all litigation matters.
-Draft and issue / respond to notices relating to Suppliers / Customers.
-Draft and issue notice under Sec.138 of Negotiable Instruments Act., and if required initiate court proceedings for recovery of money.
-Review and approve the Plaint or Written Statement, evidence, affidavit, etc., prepared by the external counsel in response to any litigation matters.
-Provide necessary support to external counsels and internal business team to settle pending court matters.
– Ensure with the business teams that court orders are executed in accordance with the specified timelines.
-Support in conducting research relating to IPR infringement or contest the matters in court.
Procurement Matters:
-Provide general advice and counsel – Negotiate on a wide range of commercial transactions / Supplier / Vendor Contracts, including purchasing matters of in-house procurement team with regards to all external vendors.
-Review of Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Other Matters:
-Assemble and maintain repository of all legal documents/contracts relating to the India Operations.
-Create, maintain and update (on a monthly basis) database relating to contracts / agreements.
Here is some of what you will need (required)
-Candidates with minimum 5 years of experience working in large manufacturing Companies, preferably with Multi National Corporations.
-Should have strong knowledge on various Indian Laws in order to be able to advise the Management on day to day legal matters pertaining to the functioning of the Company.
-Conversant with laws / Statutory requirements in the areas of DTAs, SEZs, STPI, etc.
-Should have expertise in drafting / reviewing / negotiating different types of contracts related to indirect materials, leases, etc.
-Experience and ability to work with confidential information.
-Fully proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
-Strong written and oral communication skills, and cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
-Dynamic and self-driven; capable of functioning independently and assuming Team Leader role in future.
-Competency to conducting research on Legal Issues/ Queries.
-Experience of working with reputed law firms would be additional advantage.

-Bachelor of Law (B.L) from a reputed Indian University.
